The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For

We already knew that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, if gamers will truly desire to use it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car everyone is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch designed himself in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Instead, fans are getting the Simpsons' everyday well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the series. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only cosmetic from the series arriving in the game. This limited-time event will also include a set of challenges to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the ideal pastries!"

Although the complete list of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also get rims featuring a TV showing the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event coincides with the extensive Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new playable area of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event begins on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
