The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America
Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.
Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.
The King and Prince were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Commitment
King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio before the COP summit.
Official representatives have characterized the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an significant responsibility in "environmental negotiations".
Recent Engagements
The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, diplomats and politicians.
This participation included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
Environmental Prize Link
The UN meeting will align with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the COP summit on November 6th.
Recently the prince referred to the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".

King Charles has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for COP28, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".
"I have spent a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats challenging our world over global warming, climate change and ecological decline," the monarch informed delegates.
