Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.
The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
