Competitor's Live Reaction
Shortly afterward, the team's competitor Lawson communicated to his pit wall engineer saying: "Is this for real? Could you believe what happened? I could have... killed them"
"I truly couldn't comprehend what I was observing"
"I rejoined with a brand new hard tyres, and then I got to Turn One and there were just two dudes dashing across the track"
"I came close to striking one of them, frankly, it was incredibly risky"
Security Issues Highlighted
"Clearly there's been a communication breakdown somehow but This is the first time I've faced that before, and I haven't previously witnessed that in the past. It's pretty unacceptable"
"We fail to grasp how on a active circuit marshals can be permitted to just dash across the track like that. I don't understand the reason, I'm confident we'll get some form of reasoning, but it really can't happen again"
Governing Body Reviewing
Formula 1's governing body, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), is actively examining the situation
"Subsequent to a first corner event, track officials was notified that wreckage remained on the track at the apex of that corner" commented the FIA
"During the third lap, marshals were alerted and made ready to enter the track and remove the wreckage once all cars had passed"
"The moment it was realized that Lawson had made a pit stop, the instructions to dispatch personnel were rescinded and a caution signal was raised in that zone"
"The examination is ongoing what happened after that point"
